1951 NSU Konsul II 500
This 500 cc Konsul is a single cylinder 4-stroke machine with 21 HP (a.k.a. Consul). The selling slogan of the day was "Kluge Köpfe kaufen Konsul". It is considered a sport touring machine. The NSU factory was in Neckarsulm Germany. The first Konsuls came out around 1949 designed by Albert Roder. The 500 Konsul is based on the 501 OSL model. The Konsul II was the final development of NSU's big single cylinder motorcycles. If you think the Japanese invented the upside down fork, think again. This 1951 Konsul has one. Ziggy restored this motorcycle in Germany in 2002. The high pipes on the motorcycle (which are a recent addition) are from the scrambler sports version of the Konsul. You can see pictures of the bike below with both the original pipes and the high pipes.
